Competition Culture Europe during Venice Biennale 2018 – Architectuur Lokaal
In May 2018 the international conference of the Competition Culture Europe project of Architectuur Lokaal in cooperation with A10 and Project Compass will be held at 25 May, 19.00 – 20.30 hrs in Palazzo Widmann, Venice, during the Venice Biennale 2018.
The results of the Open Call by Project Compass CIC (UK) to collect experiences from architects who have won design contests abroad, will be presented to the representatives from more than 25 EU countries involved. Until March 23 anyone can share their thoughts here.
Competition Culture Europe is a four-year project geared towards improving the accessibility and transparency of design competitions in Europe. In 2017 ten concrete agreements were made which are feasible within one year and will be carried out by the representatives of the more than 25 countries that were present. In September 2017 the attendants of the in Amsterdam, decided upon ten concrete steps to improve competition culture for architecture in Europe in just one year. The first step, a vocabulary to avoid misunderstandings, will be discussed in Venice. The UK Open Call is the second step.
In 2018 several new partners have joined the project:
- Italy: Italian Association of Architecture and Critique,
- Lithuania: Association of Lithuanian Architects,
- Poland: National Institute for Architecture and Town Planning, Lublin University of Technology, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Kielce University of Technology, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, and Kielce Branch of the Society of Polish Architects SARP.
In September 2018 the implementation of all ten steps will be presented at the annual conference in Poland. Competition Culture is a project of Architectuur Lokaal, conducted in collaboration with Project Compass CIC and A10 new European architecture cooperative.
